How to configure Payment Links with an expiration date

Last updated: February 8, 2026

Set an expiration date to automatically disable a Payment Link after a specific date and time. Useful for limited-time offers, event registrations, or time-sensitive invoices.

  1. Go to Payment Links

  2. Click Create Payment Link (or edit an existing one)

  3. Scroll to Advanced options

  4. Click Advanced

  5. Select the date and time when the link should stop accepting payments

  6. Save and publish

The link works normally until the expiration date. After that, it stops accepting payments automatically.

What happens when a link expires

When the expiration date is reached:

  • The link becomes inaccessible

  • Customers who try to open it see an error message asking them to contact you for a new payment link

  • No new payments can be processed through that link

Important: Payments already completed before the expiration date are not affected. They remain valid and will settle normally.

Edit the expiration date

You can change the expiration date after publishing the link:

  1. Go to Payment Links

  2. Find the link

  3. Click on the link to open details

  4. Click the pencil icon to edit

  5. Go to Advanced options

  6. Update the expiration date

  7. Save

The new expiration date applies immediately.

Remove the expiration date

To make the link available indefinitely:

  1. Edit the link

  2. Go to Advanced options

  3. Click on the expiration date field

  4. Click Clear

  5. Save

The link will stay active until you manually disable it.

Common use cases

Limited-time promotions: Run a 48-hour sale. Set the link to expire when the promotion ends.

Event registrations: Sell tickets for an event. Set the link to expire the day before the event starts.

Time-sensitive invoices: Send a payment request with a due date. Set the link to expire after the deadline.

Seasonal products: Offer holiday-specific products. Set links to expire when the season ends.

Does the expiration affect subscriptions?

No. If a customer subscribes before the link expires, their subscription remains active even after the expiration date.

The expiration only prevents new payments or subscriptions from being created through that link.
